A lot is one production run. Everything here belongs to one, and the record follows the vial.

Research-use-only peptides, supplied by the vial and recorded to the lot they came from.

The run is numbered. Material arrives and the run it belongs to is given its lot number before a single vial is filled.
The vial joins the run. Units are filled from that run and stay attached to it. Nothing leaves here as an unassigned vial.
The order records the lot. Fulfilment writes the lot each unit came from onto the order itself, not onto a spreadsheet beside it.
The record stays retrievable. Ask about a vial you hold and the run behind it can be looked up against the order it shipped on.
